Join the Hungarian American Association of Washington (HAAW) at Prohibition Cellars for a special international evening of music, theater, visual storytelling, and conversation.
Part of the AbsoLUTE Movement HUN Festival, Divas / Activists explores the lives and legacies of extraordinary female artists who used their voices, visibility, and art to push boundaries and influence the world around them.
Through a theatrical and musical performance by Zoi Florosz, the evening brings together women from different cultures and eras, including Hungarian icons Ilona Massey and Katalin Karády, alongside Josephine Baker, Barbra Streisand, and Lotte Lenya.
The performance features 10 songs—six in Hungarian, three in English, and one in French—with narration, characters, and discussion in English. No knowledge of Hungarian is needed.
Following the performance, guests are invited to stay for a conversation about independence in the arts, artistic expression, and the role cultural communities can play in creating connection and change.
